Rod Turner, Founder and Executive Chairman

Rod founded Fortus Security in 2005. Having been involved in security all his working life, from running professional door teams and large scale events to VIP close protection he has a great understanding and passion for the industry.

Rod has built up strong relationships with councils all over London, licensing teams and police forces through regular training. This has included initiatives such as pub watches, neighbourhood watch committees, resident’s committee meetings, crime scene preservation courses for licensed premises. He has also been involved in the Best Bar None awards and incident management training.

Rod has worked with police and councils to initiate night time ambassador patrols and safer neighbourhood schemes, reducing antisocial behaviour and crime.

Rod has organised and launched events such as;
The Murderball ; An event that raised over £150,000 for an ex-team mate and rugby player Paul Barker as well as the paralympic wheelchair rugby players at Twickenham stadium. 

Kudzu Promototions. A Mixed Martial Arts Show that showcased fighters from the UK competing in an event that was live streamed over the Internet from Epsom racecourse.

John Smyth MVO BA (Hons), Special Projects Manager

Photo of John Smyth, Special Projects Manager for Fortus SecurityJohn Smyth recently retired from the Metropolitan Police Service having served the last 20 years with SO14, Royalty Protection Department. Employed primarily as a Personal Protection Officer to senior members of the British Royal Family, his diverse CP career has seen him managing the SO14 close protection support team, leading operations in hostile environments and formulating policy in conjunction with the Royal Household and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.

John also served with UKSF for over 10 years and is the Vice President of the International Parachuting Commission, the World Governing body for Sport Skydiving and a former Chair of The British Parachute Association. He had the honour to be made a Member of the Royal Victorian Order (MVO) for personal services to the Sovereign. Currently John is forging ahead with UK and International Projects for Fortus.

Daniel Alexander, Office Manager

With a wealth of experience in the security industry, Daniel has been a long serving member of Fortus Security, with a flair for flexibility and procedure. Before then, he had a fulfilling career in the pubs and clubs industry, allowing for his understanding of client’s needs when enquiring for security services.

With more emphasis now on administration duties, Daniel has been an important member to the Fortus family when it comes to driving the company forward so that it has been awarded the SIA ACS accreditation.

Being with the company since 2009, Daniel has also been involved in the Operations Management side for a vast number of door supervisors and security guards around London and the South East, under his command.

David Mitchell, Finance Manager

David spent his early career working with a couple of accountancy practices in West London before being appointed as the Financial Director of a major publishing company.

After spending 15 years working with a group of investors, investing in hotels and night-clubs in USA and Hong Kong as the Financial Controller and CEO he now runs his own management company offering independent accountancy services specialising in the licenced and entertainment industry. David has been the Finance Manager working with Fortus since 2011.
